First of all, I am not a Music Therapist! However, I am a singing therapist. Let me explain. I don’t have any degrees or formal training in musical therapy. I do have a wealth of training in music and voice, and of course separately, in therapy. I have many years of experience organizing singing experiences for groups of people. I was a teacher at a Singing Meditation Retreat. I’ve taught at a few singing retreats designed as communal therapeutic and spiritual experiences. I do have formal training in leading cathartic musical experiences for groups.
Over the last few years I’ve been weaving in songs and song teaching into my therapy practice. I choose a song that speaks directly to a part of my client and sing it for them or teach it to them and we sing it together. Anyone who loves music knows that song lyrics are packed with meaning and they can touch us in ways that words alone fail to do. I consider songs to be medicine and I try to offer them to my clients at the right time in the right dosage. I welcome anyone who appreciates song or singing to let me know that they’d like me to incorporate them into our work.
I specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community, those exploring poly/ENM relationships, and people of all ages and backgrounds. I work with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD. I can also help if you are going through a life transition or looking to become more self-aware. I would be honored to work with you if you are ready to take steps toward recovery or further personal growth.
